Meet Mica
Mica Agate-Mays, LICSW (MA)
they/them
I'm a clinical social worker providing individual and relationship therapy through my small private practice, Woven Psychotherapy.
Woven Psychotherapy is a practice oriented to:
weaving in the parts of ourselves we've had to reject, contain, or abandon
weaving ourselves deeper into networks of community and interdependence
weaving our individual threads into a larger sense of belonging in the universe
I come to this work through my own experience of therapy and relational healing. My work is inspired by the mentors, care workers, teachers, nourishing meals, therapists who have supported me in coming into deeper relationship to myself and the world. I work primarily with survivors of trauma (individual, collective, intergenerational, historical) and those with attachment wounds/injury. My practice is grounded in psychodynamic theory, particularly relational and attachment perspectives, visions of liberation, queer theory, and humor.
I work with individuals, couples, and other relationship constellations. My relationship therapy work is grounded in the Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy which merges developmental neuroscience, attachment theory, and arousal regulation. My therapeutic style is collaborative, curious, and compassionate with attention to the relationship between us, as individuals, and the systems that impact us. I seek to draw connections between clients’ histories and their experience as it unfolds in the here-and-now of the therapeutic exchange, all in service of coming into deeper relationship with oneself.
