My name is Kendra Boylan (they/them). I am a white, neurodivergent, queer, trans/nonbinary social worker and psychotherapist currently living on the ancestral homeland of the Lenape people (Brooklyn, NY).
I came to this work through my personal experiences in therapy, where being deeply held and supported helped me understand how critical it is to have someone who understands your identity and has the language to help you feel safe and seen. Because of this, I strive to create a therapeutic space that feels supportive, curious, and emotionally safe—one that invites honesty, healing, and growth.
My work is grounded in an anti-racist, anti-oppressive framework. I do not believe we can meaningfully address our experiences without acknowledging the sociopolitical systems that shape our lives, including capitalism, imperialism, and other forms of structural oppression. These forces influence how we experience ourselves, our relationships, and the world, and they are an important part of the work we do together.
My approach is collaborative, relational, and rooted in harm reduction. I value feedback and view therapy as a shared process, where we work together to identify what feels most supportive and aligned for you. I draw from Internal Family Systems (IFS/parts work), somatic and trauma-informed practices, mindfulness-based therapy, and relational approaches, and I often integrate creative and art-based interventions when helpful.
As a queer and trans therapist, my passion is working with LGBTQIA+ individuals exploring all aspects of gender, sexuality, and identity. I also support individuals and couples navigating
relationships, boundaries, communication, intimacy, and major life transitions. If you are interested in connecting, please visit my website or send me an email. I look forward to the opportunity to work together.
