I’m Jesse, and I come to my therapy practice from a life in art and culture making, sexuality advocacy, and community organizing. My work thus far has attuned me to the necessity and the power of sensitivity and curiosity, and as a result, I bring a trauma- and systems-informed approach to my work that prioritizes making full room for the honest intersections who each of us is in the world.
Perhaps most fundamentally, I see therapy as a way to slow down and really notice what important messages from ourselves we might be missing. We each have so much knowledge and memory about ourselves, yet the pace and complexity of most of our lives can make it difficult to listen to - and integrate - some of the most important communication from our bodies, our intuition, our deep and specific systems of need. While I use an eclectic toolbelt of approaches to work with clients (Internal Family Systems/Parts Work, Emotion Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Training, Somatic and Experiential interventions), the most important tool that I use is that of just being truly with you: we find our way into a relational tone that supports you digging in and exploring yourself, we collaborate and examine what stories and habits you’re working with, and I offer reflections and clinical perspectives to support your process of hearing and reconnecting to what you know and what you might need next. I do this work because I fully believe that a strong and safe therapeutic relationship can be an incredibly potent tool for cultivating your growth and healing; I'm here to build that with you.
I work primarily with adults, and my practice is divided evenly between working with individuals and working with couples and other forms of chosen relationships. Much of my relationship work includes considerations and practices of polyamory and non-monogamy, and explorations and transitions around gender and sexuality.
