Meet Elizabeth

Elizabeth Rosenberg, LCSW-C (MD), LICSW (DC)

she/her

I am a social worker and I love my work. I began this labor of love as a community organizer and transferred my skills from working in the streets to a clinical focus on the intersection of the contexts, systems, and dynamics we live in. From my work with communities, I deeply believe that communities should be empowered to make decisions for themselves and I have translated this world view to my clinical work by empowering my clients to build the lives they want to live. I believe that the healing power of relationship and community is what makes the undeniable difference between suffering and suffering alone. I aspire to hold space for that suffering in preparation for the work of identifying and challenging the oppressive systems at play. I live and practice in the Maryland/DC area on the stolen ancestral lands of the Piscataway and Nacotchtank people. I benefit from the power and privilege of generational wealth, whiteness, and from being straight-sized, cisgender, heterosexual, and highly educated. My neurodivergence, chronic illness, and chronic pain make me vulnerable to ongoing experiences of ableism.

I studied social determinants of health as a part of earning my Bachelor of Science in Community Health from the University of Maryland College Park and continued by specializing in Community Action and Social Policy at the University of Maryland Baltimore where I earned my Masters of Social Work. I use these community-based principles to collaborate with adolescents, adults, couples, and families to explore and identify strategies that work for them - not just what the data says should work for them. Harm reduction, fat liberation, neurodivergent-affirming care, trauma healing, and relational approaches guide my practice. I am also a musician and active member of the DC Labor Chorus, the musical arm of the revolution.
