she/her

I am a queer, mixed-race, Chinese-American, woman with chronic illness based out of Philadelphia, PA on Lenni-Lenape land. I come to clinical social work with a deeply held belief that all people are deserving of care and, in my work, I have seen how a safe and collaborative therapeutic relationship can offer healing when that care has been challenged. After finishing my graduate studies in education and social work at the University of Pennsylvania, I completed advanced training in psychodynamic psychotherapy and EMDR therapy; however, I learn the most by sitting with my clients each day. My work is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and connection, drawing from attachment and relational theories and often incorporating somatic practices. In recognition of the harmful systems in which we live, and as someone who has felt their impact, I know an essential part of healing involves actively employing an anti-oppressive lens that refuses to pathologize trauma survival. I acknowledge this requires continued reflection about roles and vulnerabilities in the therapeutic relationship and I aim to create a practice that affirms people of all identities. This core philosophy also frames my facilitation services, where I offer workshops and healing spaces to small communities around a particular topic or focus. My clinical work prioritizes serving folks working towards collective liberation, those healing from trauma and loss, as well as older adolescents and young adults holding marginalized identities. I am incredibly grateful to be a part of the Embodied Private Practice Cohort, through which I am honored to be in community with like-minded, politicized therapists seeking to support the healing of clients while also honoring the humanity of us as clinicians.

If you live in PA and have an interest in psychotherapy sessions, or if you are interested in connecting for facilitation services, I welcome inquiries through my website: www.alicelcsw.com.
